While leading UX for Wells Fargo’s Investment Fiduciary Services (IFS), I was responsible for designing digital experiences for one of the bank’s most valuable customer segments. Although this group represented only approximately 35,000–40,000 clients, they accounted for more than half of the wealth managed by the business. Their expectations were exceptionally high, and many enhancement requests came directly from clients or their Relationship Managers, making every design decision both highly visible and business-critical.

During a broader initiative to introduce mobile capabilities to the IFS platform, we identified an opportunity to rethink how customers accessed their financial information. Rather than designing a dashboard optimized only for desktop or tablet users, I challenged the team to create a fully responsive, personalized experience that would work seamlessly across all devices—including mobile. My goal was to ensure every client, regardless of how they chose to access their accounts, had the same powerful experience.

Working closely with engineering, we rapidly moved from concept to prototype, completed user testing, and delivered the first production release in approximately five months. The solution gave clients the flexibility to personalize their dashboards by selecting the information most important to them, arranging widgets to match their preferences, configuring data parameters, and creating unique dashboard views for different account groups.

This project reinforced one of my core design principles: enterprise applications should adapt to the needs of users—not require users to adapt to the application. By combining customer-centered design with strong collaboration across product and engineering, we delivered a scalable solution that balanced complex business requirements with an intuitive and highly personalized user experience.
